HOKULI'A ESTATE SITE 216
Set on a hillside overlooking the 14th green of Hokuli’a’s Jack Nicklaus signature golf course and the Pacific Ocean beyond, this house is designed to bring in the stunning views of the coastal scenery as a backdrop to the lush green of the golf course. The design includes large expanses of glass revealing dramatic views in every direction.
Seamless transitions from inside to outside merge the house into its landscape, while broad overhangs provide protection from the tropical sun and occasional tropical rains. The ocean side pool wraps around the house and visually merges with the ocean and includes breathtaking views of the coastline in the distance.
On the uphill side of the house is the arrival court. It leads to a large central courtyard that incorporates a reflecting pool and a formal entry. Flanking that dramatic entry space are the more intimate portions of the house. On one side are the living and dining areas, on the other side are private quarters book-ending the reflecting pool.
